Here’s how our visit to Iberseries & Platino Industria 2025 went

Airmedia360’s contribution: Efficiency and vanguard

As a leading drone company, we were invited to participate as speakers to represent the innovation and high technical capacity of Spanish production services (vendors). We had the privilege of sharing a panel with industry giants such as Peter Welter Soler (Fresco Film Services) and Tomáš Krejčí (Milk & Honey Pictures). Our intervention, covered by media such as the EFE agency, focused on demonstrating how drone technology is revolutionizing the industry. We explained that drones are the fastest and most efficient way to transport cameras and lighting. As highlighted by our head of production in Europe, Eduardo Villar, “a scene done with a drone can take us between 15 and 20 minutes, and with a ground camera it can take from two to three hours.” This time optimization (requiring only 2 people compared to a crew of 7 to 10) is what has allowed us to participate in productions of the stature of ‘Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’, ‘The Witcher’, ‘Money Heist’, ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ or ‘Rambo: Last Blood’. Furthermore, we highlighted the incredible diversity of Spain’s locations , which greatly facilitates logistics, whether to fly drones in the city (recreating technological or medieval environments) or in natural landscapes.

Why it is vital to develop the industry abroad

Participating in events like the one in Prague is a fundamental strategic action. In an “increasingly competitive” sector, where streaming platforms adjust budgets, efficiency is our best argument. We demonstrate that hiring a drone company from Spain like Airmedia360 is not an expense, but a significant saving in technical and human costs. This has driven our exponential growth, doubling the number of projects we have participated in during 2024. By “selling” Spain abroad, we not only attract shoots, but we also position our technology and experience. Strengthening this ecosystem is key to continuing to expand our capacity to fly drones in Europe and consolidating Spain as the leading audiovisual hub on the continent.

An event to repeat

At Airmedia360, we took advantage of this exceptional opportunity to fly our drones both indoors and outdoors at the emblematic Matadero Madrid. This location, situated in the heart of the city, poses a considerable logistical and bureaucratic challenge given the level of permits and restrictions for flights in such complex urban areas. However, we managed to capture unique and exclusive aerial images that reflect the energy and magnitude of the event.

These aerial recordings were used by the organization itself for its daily summaries and also by the Madrid Audiovisual Cluster, an entity to which Airmedia360 is proud to belong as an active member.

In addition to our talk “Cinema from the air: innovation and challenges in drone filming” given at the Matadero Madrid Workshop, we also offered international film students a detailed explanation of how cinema drones work for their future productions.

Furthermore, we engaged in intense and constant networking with other industry players, establishing solid relationships with all types of stakeholders, from music houses like Universal Production Music, to camera manufacturers, suppliers, vendors, executive producers, directors of photography, and film directors, coming from India, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, Guatemala, Morocco, Turkey, or South Korea, strengthening our network and opening new doors for future collaborations all over the world.
